Feigenbaum Center for Science and Innovation at MCLA

47 Blackinton St, North Adams, MA 01247

Location: 47 Blackinton St, North Adams, MA 01247
Architect: EYP Architecture and Engineerings
Finished Cladding Materials: Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) and Fiber Cement, Profiled Aluminum, Terra Cotta, Zinc
System Type: Barrier Rainscreen

Serving as the central hub for Massachusetts College of Liberal Art’s STEM programs and a scientific resource for the broader community, this 65,000 square foot center demanded an innovative architectural expression. The project prominently features a cutting-edge façade composed of 30mm thick terra cotta, true zinc panels, ACM, and profiled aluminum. This advanced design approach reflects a commitment to modern architecture while integrating functional elements like high-performance Exterior Wall Systems to ensure durability and energy efficiency.

The comprehensive Exterior Wall Panel Fabrication process played a vital role in achieving the structure’s forward-thinking aesthetic. Each panel was crafted with precision, utilizing modern techniques in Exterior Wall Panel Manufacturing to meet exact design specifications. A total of 344 Exterior Wall Panels were produced and seamlessly integrated, combining visual appeal with technical performance. These systems were engineered to perform in all weather conditions while maintaining a uniform, high-quality appearance across the entire building envelope.

Precision-driven Exterior Wall System Fabrication ensured that each component matched the architectural intent. Every element, from substructure to cladding, was fabricated with careful attention to detail and alignment. This meticulous Exterior Wall System Manufacturing process allowed for seamless transitions between different materials, including terra cotta and zinc. The integration of prefabricated components helped accelerate the construction timeline while improving onsite safety, reducing waste, and guaranteeing consistency across all aspects of the Exterior Wall System Installation.

The expertly executed Exterior Wall Panel Installation was essential in realizing the center’s vision. Installation teams worked closely with engineers and architects to ensure each panel aligned perfectly, creating a cohesive look that emphasizes modern design principles. The panels were installed with advanced thermal barriers and moisture control systems. These high-performance Exterior Wall Panels not only enhance the building’s visual identity but also contribute to superior insulation, thermal regulation, and long-term structural integrity.

As a result of these comprehensive efforts, the building was awarded LEED Gold Certification, recognizing its environmental sustainability and high-performance construction. The integration of advanced Exterior Wall System Installation methods with innovative Exterior Wall Systems contributed significantly to energy conservation. Through the intelligent application of prefabrication, cutting-edge materials, and sustainable practices, this project stands as a benchmark in modern Exterior Wall Panel design, fabrication, and installation for institutional buildings across the region.

We implement custom exterior wall system solutions that push the boundaries of modern architecture by leveraging technology and design.
